Mars was the Roman god of war, and the counterpart of Greek god Ares.
Unlike his Greek counterpart though, Mars was a prestige and majestic god, who was seen as a brave warrior and protector of Roman Empire and it's people. He favoured the soldiers who fought with courage and honour.
He was the son of Jupiter and Juno, and had relationships with goddesses like Nerio, Venus and Bellona, and was the father of Romulus and Remus, the demigod founders of Rome.
