Baldr (or Balder) is the Norse god of innocence, joy, purity and peace and is the second son of Odin. Baldr had a ship, the largest ever built, and was revered as the fairest of the Gods. He was the favorite of all the Gods, and Frigg made all the living things swear to not harm him. She, however, did not get the mistletoe to do so, but she ignored it, because it was so harmless. When Loki discovered this, he got a spear made of mistletoe and gave to the blind God Höðr, who threw it at him, not knowing it would kill Baldr.
Though Baldr died, and all attempts to have him returned from Hel failed, he is prophecied to return once the world is reborn after Ragnarök
